Balkazar: Balkan fire from Taiwan.

Balkazar is a Taipei-based international party band blending Balkan and Eastern European music with ska, reggae, rock, funk, Latin and world grooves. Led by Serbian guitarist and vocalist Marko Djurasić, the band turns every set into an invitation to move.

Balkazar grew from Taiwan’s Balkan and world-fusion community into a dance-floor-first international live band. Led by Serbian guitarist and vocalist Marko Djurasić, the group moves between Eastern European melodies, traditional songs, odd rhythms, ska-reggae drive, rock, funk and Latin influences without losing the crowd. Balkazar has appeared in Urban Nomad / Urban Freakout-related lineups, Taiwan Ska Fest, Taipei venue stages and repeat bookings at Celebration Canada—the Canadian Trade Office and Canadian Chamber of Commerce’s official Taipei festival—and has been described by the Taipei Times as a “Balkan reggae-ska outfit.” The result is celebratory, border-crossing live music made for festivals, clubs, culture nights and events where the audience should become part of the show.
