About Balkazar
The band.
Balkazar grew out of Taipei’s Balkan and world-music scene. We play songs from Serbia and the wider Balkans, rework familiar tunes and add a few of our own. It’s a living folk tradition, not a costume or a nostalgia act.
Past shows & press
We've played Urban Nomad, Tiger Mountain Ramble, Taiwan Ska Fest, the Shilin Residence Chrysanthemum Show, Daniel Pearl World Music Day, Taipei Veggie Fest and Celebration Canada, among other events in Taiwan. The Taipei Times once called Balkazar a “Balkan reggae-ska outfit.”
